PC Mode and REPAIR mode unavailable
« on: July 13, 2018, 05:07:26 PM »
Hello,

like stated in the manual, i connect the Cross Hair with the delivered cable to my PC. No controller, mouse and keyboard attached.
There comes a green light, a violet light and then black instead of a white light. The device is not being recognized by the manager.

Another thing stated in the manual is Repair Mode. So i hold down the hidden button while i connect the Cross Hair to my PC.
No light appears, it stays black. The device is not being recognized by the manager.

What should i do to get it working?

here some things you may try:

have nothing plugged into cross hair, then
1. connect cross hair to other usb ports(on the back of your computer case)
2. try another pc
3. connect cross hair to your game console(ps4/xbox one/switch etc)
4. try another similar usb cable to connect cross hair to PC

Thanks for your response.

1 to 3 gives the same result (green, violet, black)
I can't try 4 because i don't have another cable that fits.

can you send a video or link of it to "support@reasnow.com"
to show us your connecting cross hair(nothing on it) to game console with the official usb cable?

we watched your video, this is a bit strange.

is this your first time to use cross hair?
did it ever work well in your hand?

can you send us a new video by following the steps below,
so we can know what can be done to fix it?

1. Hold down the hidden button with a toothpick or the tip of a pen,
2. then plug Cross Hair into your PC(usb ports on the back of your computer case are recommended).
3. When the LOGO is green,  release the button.

A stable green LOGO means your Cross Hair is in REPAIR MODE.

we would like to see all the details,
specially the logo of cross hair during your connecting.

Repair mode does not start. It keeps being black when the green logo should appear.

It did work for 1 year until now maybe.

The last firmware i put on it was the one included in v3.12.15 for Switch.

I connected it to the PC today and it acted like this. It still worked on the console.
Then i experimented and connected the mouse. The white light came on and i did a reset to default settings.
Now it doesn't even work on console anymore as its lacking a config (red light, 4 beeps) and it wont show the white light on PC too.

Thats all i have to say.

my guess is you have leaved cross hair being connected to switch while the console is in sleep mode.
is that right?

Yes, i left it hanging at the dock. With mouse and keyboard. But why does that break it?

in sleep mode, switch power on and off the usb ports repeatedly.
we do not know why. but switch does do that.

cross hair will be powered on and off all the while,
that might be the reason.

to make it short, it's better to contact the seller and ask for after-sale service,
it will save your some effort and time.

I'm sorry to ask this but

if it is a software issue, why isn't the Repair Mode more fail-safe?
I have no idea of the electronics and software that is inside, but i think there may be some room for improvement in the future. No one is perfect.

If our conversation comes to an end now, i want to thank you and your collegues for your time though. :)
Your cross hair still does stuff better than other competitors in my opinion, wich makes it all more sad that its dead now.
