PS4 with Saitek X52 and Ace Combat 7
« on: August 23, 2020, 05:07:35 AM »
Hallo,

I'm using a Saitek X52 (not the pro) Flight stick and throttle on the PS4 to play Ace Combat 7.
All the buttons and controls are set up and work properly.
I'm able to play the game with all the functions.
The only problem is that the yaw and pitch input have a big dead zone. (main joystick)
The throttle and rudder are fine. Its very direct and precise.
When I check the IO monitor in the app I can see that the ReaSnow receives the input and sends it to the PS4.
It looks like there is a programmed dead zone in the game. There are no settings within the game that can help me change that.
Is it possible to increase the value that the Reasnow sends to the PS4?
Maybe like and exponentiation function?

Hope to hear from you.
Marten

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your replay.
I've did try to change the Third-Party Controller Deadzone setting.
But this did not had any effect on the problem.

yes, some flight games have big deadzone for yaw and pitch to simulate the real world,
if the deadzone in game is bigger than the deadzone in ReaSnow S1,
changes here will show no result.

when I/O monitor is enabled, you can see that all data(yaw and pitch or other sticks or buttons)
are delivered to PS4 without delay,
but the game think it shall be sometime to respond to the input.

Hallo Richard,

Thanks for your replay.
It is clear that the dead zone of the stick is caused by the ace combat 7 game.
The input from the flight stick is deliverd to the PS4 without delay. Seen in the I/O monitor.
It is not that the game takes time to respond but the game only responds if the input value is big enough.
There is not an in game setting to change this.
So at the moment it make my x52 useless.

A solution could be that the Reasnow increased the send value to the PS4.
At the moment the value is send 1-1. Input value and output to the ps4 are the same.
I included a little graph to make it a bit more clear.
The blue line is the input from the flight stick.
The green line is the output to the PS4.
The red line could be the output to the PS4 if the joystick would react to sensitive. (not the case here)

I think it would be a great option to have in the reasnow.
It could be useful for a lot of other flight stick and steering wheel users!

Hello everybody !  I also want to use my x52 with my ps4 ... I found two variants of the reasnow block on the net.  These are crosshair and s1.  But I can't figure out which block should I use?  Marten - please tell me which block are you using?  Or I ask the developers to tell me which block my x52 will work with.  Thanks in advance !

s1 will definitely be the best choice for flight sticks:)

firstly, ReaSnow S1 is the next-gen converter of ours,
it will get the most support and the latest update.

secondly, with ReaSnow S1, each axis of your flight stick can be mapped
to a controller's sticks or triggers separately and easily.

hmm ... it's understandable that the product is newer and there will be longer support.  The fact is that I am not a gamer and I decided to try flying using my saitek and vr.  I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this.  Do I need these settings and stick maps as an ordinary user?  Will I get any big difference in using the saitek in new and older version of the converter?  Or will it stay at the same level of enjoyment for a few hours a week?

yes, S1 will still be a better choice.

and if you do like Cross Hair,
here is a workaround, which will bring similar functions to you.
http://www.reasnow.com/forum/index.php?topic=2575.0

the cons are:
you will have to prepare a USB hub and a BT dongle.

Hello. I still bought myself an S1 controller ))) I have the following question for Marten. Is it possible to get Your profile - since we play the same game and the same equipment? Or will I have to configure it myself anyway? Thank you in advance !

Hello Miniraser,

At the moment i'm not using the S1 Reasnow with ace combat 7.
This is because of the massive dead zone in the game (see my earlier post above)
I've did try to upgrade the X52 with the magnet trick upgrade. (you can find this in google or youtube)
It did improve the stick but did not solve the problem for ace combat 7 on ps4.
I would advise you to by a Hotas PS4 joystick.
If you really want to try for yourself than i would advise you to make the flight stick work. Only with the flight controls. Make a test flight and worry about the buttons later.
One tip i've got for you is to connect the reasnow after you start the game. Somehow you can't pass the ''press any button'' start screen with the reasnow so you have to do this with the ps4 controller.

Let me know if you have the same experience.

Hi Marten ! First of all, thank you for your feedback ! I just got my S1 yesterday. In the coming days, I will try to launch the game together with saitek and S1. Next, I will definitely answer in this forum about my opinion on the work or lags that I see.

hello everyone again.  I could not do the mapping.  I always have the same picture.  if you move the joystick - for a moment the values change and again become the same. the controller does not understand that I am moving the stick towards myself and left or right (it only sees forward movement and ruder operation)
