GTA V servers now stable on Xbox One, PS4 after weekend woes

At the start of the weekend, users began experiencing issues while trying to connect to the online servers for the recently released Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Grand Theft Auto V. At the time, Rockstar Games posted a workaround on their official support website which players could try in order to fix the issue until the developer could deploy a title update that would officially remedy the error.

Unfortunately, the suggested actions that players were asked to take to be able to access the GTA V online servers on next-gen platforms were overly complicated. Since the developer revealed that they expected to have an update ready to push live within the next 24 hours, most simply chose to wait until the patch was released.

Rockstar Games published a variety of steps which could potentially allow players to avoid getting the error code that was preventing online access in Grand Theft Auto V. The suggested workarounds began as simple acts such as installing the latest system software or rebooting the console.

However, later steps that users were asked to take in order to prevent the error became increasingly more difficult. Rockstar Games even went as far to suggest that users re-install the original HDD on the PS4 if they had upgraded their disk drive. This, of course, would then require fans to install GTA V a second time on the original drive.

Thankfully, these workaround weren’t needed for long as Rockstar Games refused to take the weekend off and managed to resolve the issues as promised. The developer successfully released GTA V Title Update 1.03 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Saturday afternoon. This latest update for the new-generation editions of the open-world crime title only addressed the issue of server stability so the developer could get the fix available to download as soon as possible.

Since Tuesday’s release of Grand Theft Auto V on Xbox One and PS4, the game’s updated versions have now received two small title updates. Both of these updates only involved quick bug patches. However, as the Inquisitr reported earlier in the week, these updates did not include online heist missions despite the fact that the developer previously announced that the multiplayer robberies would be added in the first title update after GTA V was released on next-gen consoles.

Two updates have since been pushed live, but online heists are still noticeably absent from Grand Theft Auto V. It is likely that Rockstar Games is waiting until the first content update before adding heist missions to GTA Online. For now, the developer is probably more focused on removing bugs from the game before they introduce any new gameplay features to GTA V.

Grand Theft Auto V is now available on Xbox One and Playstation 4. The game first released last year on last-gen platforms and is currently scheduled to launch on PC at the start of 2015.
